This notice sets out the personal data processed in connection with aseanx, the purposes for which it is processed, the parties who process it, and the rights available to data subjects under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 of Malaysia (the “PDPA”). Particulars of the data user appear in section 10.
This notice applies to the aseanx website, the aseanx briefing, and the aseanx tv channel. It does not apply to any third-party site to which aseanx links, each of which is governed by its own notice.
Personal data is received by three routes. A fourth row is stated for completeness: analytics is aggregate and cookieless and does not identify any individual.
| Route | Data processed | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiry form hosted on Google Forms | The particulars entered by the sender, ordinarily name, organisation, email address, the nature of the enquiry, and the contents of the message field. | To respond to the enquiry, and to assess partnership, sponsorship, advisory and event enquiries. |
| Newsletter subscription hosted by Brevo | Email address, together with any further particulars requested by the subscription form. | To deliver the aseanx briefing. Processed on the basis of consent, which may be withdrawn at any time. |
| Server logs generated by the host | IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps. | Security, prevention of abuse, and diagnosis of faults. Not used to construct a profile of any individual. |
| Cookieless analytics Vercel Web Analytics | Aggregate page views, referrer, and broad device and country categories. No cookie is set; no identifier is stored; no profile is constructed. | To establish which pages are read. |
Cookies. aseanx sets no cookies. The site operates no tracking pixels, no advertising technology and no cross-site tracking, and stores no data in the browser of any visitor. No cookie consent banner is presented because no consent is required.
Analytics. Usage is measured by Vercel Web Analytics, which records page views, referrers and broad device and country categories in aggregate. It sets no cookie, stores no identifier, does not follow visitors to other sites, and does not construct a profile.
Typefaces. Typefaces are served by Google Fonts. Loading any page therefore transmits the visitor’s IP address to Google LLC, as it does on any site using that service.
Sensitive personal data as defined by the PDPA — information as to physical or mental health, political opinions, religious beliefs, or the commission of an offence — is not solicited and should not be submitted. Any such data received unsolicited will be deleted.
The following processors act on instruction only. Each may store or process personal data outside Malaysia. Submission of personal data constitutes consent to that transfer, which is necessary for the provision of the service requested.
Personal data is not sold. It is not disclosed to any party other than the processors listed above, save where disclosure is required by law or by an order of a competent authority.
Enquiry records are retained for so long as is necessary for the purpose for which they were submitted and for a reasonable period thereafter for the purposes of record and of any subsequent engagement. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until the subscriber unsubscribes, whereupon the record is removed from the active list. Server logs are retained by the host for its standard period.
Under the PDPA a data subject may request access to personal data held about them, request correction of data that is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or out of date, withdraw consent to processing, and limit processing for direct marketing purposes.
Requests should be addressed to hello@aseanx.co. A response will be provided within twenty-one days, being the period prescribed by the PDPA. Sufficient particulars must be provided to enable the requester to be identified and the data located.
Every message sent as part of the aseanx briefing carries an unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately and requires no correspondence.
Personal data is held within the systems of the processors named in section 4, each of which maintains its own security controls. Access on the part of aseanx is limited to those persons who require it. No system is immune from compromise, and no absolute assurance of security is given.
aseanx is directed to business, institutional and professional audiences. It is not directed to children, and personal data is not knowingly collected from any person under the age of eighteen.
This notice may be amended. The effective date stated at the head of this page indicates the version in force. Material amendment will be notified to newsletter subscribers.
