// Cards across the markets

Heat map.

Where each of the 21 cards in the daily read is landing across the eleven markets this week. As of 15 Oct 2026. See the ring.

What the heat map shows
  1. Where each force is landing. Every row is one of the 21 cards in the daily read, and every column is one of the eleven markets, so the grid shows which markets each force, rule or trend is reaching.
  2. Where attention is concentrated. The deeper the colour, the more reported stories sit in that market on that card. A deep cell is where the week's reporting is heaviest.
  3. What kind of effect each card has. The dot beside each card's name is its label: Opportunity, Pressure, Threat, Mixed or Holding, the kind of effect it has on a business operating in ASEAN.
  4. Whether pressure is building or easing. The Trend view marks cells where reporting is picking up (▲) or fading (▼) against the weeks before, so the movement is visible, not only the level.
  5. The stories behind every cell. Click any cell to read its most recent stories, with outlet and date.

What it does not tell you: it reflects how much is being reported, not the size of the business impact. A market with few stories, such as Brunei or Timor-Leste, is thinly reported, which is different from quiet.

Select a cell

Each cell lists up to three of its most recent cited stories, with outlet and date.

Incidents are distinct reported stories from the news pool, counted once under their own market; stories not tied to one market sit under Region. A market with few incidents has little coverage on the cards, which is different from nothing happening.
