What aseanx analysis is, what it is not, and how to read a figure, a MERIDIAN assessment and the Business Conditions Index.

Effective 26 August 2026  ·  To be read before reliance is placed on any published material

Disclaimer

aseanx publishes forward-looking assessments concerning named countries, sectors and organisations. This notice states the nature of those assessments, their limits, and the basis on which they are to be read. Particulars of the publisher appear in section 11.

1 · Information, not advice

No material published by aseanx, whether on the website, in the briefing or on the channel, constitutes investment, legal, tax, accounting or regulatory advice, and none of it constitutes a recommendation to acquire, dispose of or hold any security, to enter or exit any market, or to transact with any party. aseanx is not licensed to provide financial advice in any jurisdiction and does not do so.

Professional advice, qualified in the market concerned, should be obtained before any action is taken. ASEAN comprises eleven jurisdictions. What is lawful, taxable or subject to licensing in Singapore is frequently none of those things in Vietnam or Timor-Leste.

2 · The basis on which figures are published

Every published figure carries the body that issued it and the date on which it was observed. A figure lacking either particular cannot be verified and is not published.

  • A figure is accurate as at its stated observation date and may since have been revised by its issuing body. Official statistics in the region are frequently revised.
  • Where a value is carried forward because no more recent verified reading exists, it is labelled and dated accordingly.
  • Where a matter could not be verified, that fact is stated.

3 · The basis on which MERIDIAN assessments are published

MERIDIAN assessments are probabilistic judgements as to future events. A probability is neither a forecast nor a guarantee. An assessment that an event is likely is entirely consistent with that event not occurring.

Each assessment states its reasoning, the evidence on which it rests, and the conditions that would falsify it. An assessment separated from its method, quoted as a headline figure, or repeated without its date, is misused, and the publisher does not stand behind it in that form.

Assessments are made on the information available at the date of publication. There is no obligation to update an assessment, and the absence of an update is not to be taken as confirmation that it continues to hold.

4 · The Business Conditions Index and other composites

The aseanx Business Conditions Index, the FDI Pulse and any comparable composite are constructions of aseanx. They are not official statistics, are not endorsed by any government or multilateral body, and are not comparable with indices published by others. Each is constructed from stated inputs by a stated method, published with the result and available on request. A score is a summary of that method and nothing further.

5 · Statements concerning named countries, organisations and persons

Coverage of the region requires that governments, agencies, companies and sectors be named. Where a policy, market condition or structural risk is described, that description constitutes analysis and opinion founded on sourced public information, and does not constitute an allegation of wrongdoing against any party.

No person, partner or counterparty is named as associated with aseanx unless a signed document or written confirmation is held.

Any person named or described who considers the description to be inaccurate may write to hello@aseanx.co. Because every claim carries its source and its date, correction requests are assessed against that record.

6 · Third-party sources

aseanx aggregates and links to primary sources, including government statistical offices, multilateral bodies, regulators and the press. The accuracy of material published by those bodies is not warranted, and responsibility is not accepted for it. Where a source is subsequently found to have been in error, the aseanx record is corrected and the correction is dated.

7 · Machine-generated material

Certain material published on the aseanx tv channel is produced using synthetic voice or generated imagery. Such material is disclosed on screen where used. Generated imagery is used for illustrative purposes and does not depict actual events, persons or places unless expressly stated.

8 · Forward-looking statements

Material published by aseanx contains forward-looking statements concerning economic conditions, policy developments, investment flows and sectoral outcomes. Such statements are subject to risks and uncertainties, many of them outside the control of any party, and actual outcomes may differ materially. No warranty is given as to any forward-looking statement.

9 · Independence

aseanx is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the ASEAN Secretariat, or any ASEAN member government or organ. No material published by aseanx is to be read as an official ASEAN publication or as an ASEAN position.

10 · Limitation

To the fullest extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from reliance on aseanx material. This notice is to be read together with the Terms of Use.
